Congress is finally tackling a comprehensive federal law to reduce global warming pollution. This bill is the foundation of any successful program to reverse the trends on global warming. Now more than ever, our representatives in Congress must hear that we support a strong federal clean energy bill that holds polluters accountable. Why now? Because, even as you read this, oil companies, utilities and other major polluters are pressuring your members of Congress to weaken the law.

Passing a strong federal law is the bedrock for reducing global warming pollution and building a clean energy economy, especially now that the Washington State Legislature has closed the door on significant progress at the state level for this year.
The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 introduced by environmental champions Rep. Henry Waxman and Rep. Edward Markey will fuel a clean energy economy while tackling the threat of global warming by:
-
Creating millions of jobs for American workers by investing in clean energy;
-
Cutting waste and saving billions of dollars in energy costs for consumers and businesses;
-
Reducing our dependence on foreign oil; and
- Limiting dangerous global warming pollution.
It is also very important that we urge them to stand up for a strong law. The American Clean Energy and Security Act must be passed with:
-
NO giveaways for polluters;
-
A promise to reduce global warming emissions in the near-term;
-
A commitment to move boldly beyond dirty coal; and
- An assurance of a smooth transition for workers, families, businesses, and vulnerable populations at home and abroad to the clean energy economy of the future.
Please Contact your representative now, tell them to make clean energy a national priority and pass the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009.
