After months of planning and organization, Northwest Clean Air Agency (NWCAA) is launching the Climate Stewards vounteer program focused on empowering citizen action to address climate change in our community (Skagit & Island Counties).   NWCAA is funding the program and is partnering with the WSU Beach Watchers and Padilla Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve to train and coordinate volunteers.  Padilla Bay will host 20 hours of training over 4 days (Mondays & Wednesdays, starting 9/15/08; for times see registration form below).    Training is provided free and volunteers commit to pay back at least 20 hours of volunteer efforts over the following 8 months.  Once trained, volunteers will work with Skagit and Island County Beach Watcher Coordinators, who will provide programmatic support for planning and implementing projects.  Training will include an opportunity to participate in a panel discussion with local government leaders from Anacortes, Coupeville, and Skagit County.

Please consider joining the program and register to become a Climate Steward - be part of the solution in our communityLearn more, take action, get involved!
